California's Marin County resident Paul Miller was the Marin Independent Journal's editorial cartoonist in the late 1960's, later was the editorial and sports cartoonist for the Novato Advance for most of the 1970's, has published cover cartoons for the Pacific Sun and illustrated for the Tiburon Ark. He also has had editorial cartoons published in the San Francisco Chronicle. The San Francisco Chapter of Surfriders Foundation has published several of his surfing paintings on its website. Miller produced weekly editorial cartoons and a column called "Hit It and Quit It" for MoreMarin.com, a team member of SFGate.com, the Chronicle's on-line edition. He also volunteers at the Morgan Horse Ranch of Point Reyes National Seashore and at Marin Brain Injury Network in Larkspur, California

Miller, a former Marine and a UCLA graduate, taught a cartooning course in the art department at the College of Marin, where he was a full time faculty member in the English and communications departments for four decades. Miller has paintings and drawings in private collections in California, Arizona, Washington, Hawaii, Texas, Florida, and Provence, France, as well as London, England.

Radio medical host Dr. Dean Edell described Miller's book, A Cartoonist's Guide to Prostate Cancer, as a must for any man facing prostate cancer.
